However, only 40% are satisfied with the city’s overall image, marking a decline from 50% in 2022. Additionally, satisfaction with the value received for tax dollars has decreased to 33%, continuing a downward trend observed since 2008.
Public Safety and Crime Prevention
While 80% of respondents express satisfaction with police responsiveness and professionalism, concerns about safety persist. A significant finding is that only 47% feel safe in downtown Davenport. Furthermore, just 36% rate crime prevention efforts as ‘good’ or ‘very good,’ indicating a desire for enhanced initiatives in this area.
City Services and Amenities
Residents express high satisfaction with specific city services, ranking fire and paramedic services, libraries, and garbage/recycling collection as top-rated. Additionally, there is appreciation for the number, location, and accessibility of city parks, as well as the quality and variety of recreational programs and events.
Priorities for Improvement
The survey identifies key areas where residents would like to see improvements:
- Quality of city streets
- Quality of neighborhoods
- Quality of police services
- Attracting and retaining businesses
- Effectiveness of the city’s public engagement
Community issues deemed top priorities include public safety, infrastructure, and job retention and attraction.
